Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry describes treatments chosen primarily to change the appearance of the teeth — their colour, shape, size, alignment or proportion. Many of these treatments also have a functional side, and most begin with the same question: what is actually causing the appearance the patient wants to change?

These articles describe how common cosmetic options work, what they generally involve, what trade-offs exist between reversible and irreversible approaches, and what a patient can reasonably discuss with a dentist before committing to treatment.

Topics covered

  • Porcelain veneers
  • Teeth whitening
  • Smile makeovers
